Most of india's finest beaches are in kerala. For virtually its entire 900 km length, the kerala coast is lined with sandy beaches, rocky promontories and coconut palms. Alappuzha Beach :
Alappuzha beach is quite a popular tourist spot, known to provide relaxation in the district of Alappuzha (Alleppey).Blessed with nature's green beauties such as lagoons, vast lakes and numerous fresh water rivers, Alappuzha is a natural wonderland of Kerala state. The Alappuzha (Alleppey) beach is spectacular.At one end are the dense palm groves that are so characteristic of Kerala's landscape. It has a long sandy beach.Alappuzha Beach is Referred to as the Venice of the East by travellers from across the world.
Bekal Beach :
The Bekal Beach is located near Bekal Fort. This fort is one of the best-maintained historic forts in Kerala. Situated on a headland that extends for 35 acres and reaches into the Arabian Sea, the Bekal Fort occupies a commanding position on a promontory. The Bekal Beach extends on either side, with stretches of clear sand flanked by rows of elegant palm trees.The view from the Bekal Fort of the green palms, the white sand, the blue sea and the rolling waves is truly breathtaking.
Cherai Beach :
45 kms from ernakulam city, this lovely beach bordering vypeen island is ideal for swimming. Dolphins are occasionally seen here. A typical kerala village with paddy fields and coconut groves nearby is an added attraction. The 15 km of long golden beach is very clean, shallow, and attracts swimming and sunbathing. This is one of the few places where we can see the lagoon (poyil) and ocean separated only by a few hundreds of meters.
Beypore Beach :
The Beypore beach, situated at the mouth of the River Chaliyar near Kozhikode (Calicut) in North Kerala. It was one of the major ports and fishing harbors of elapsed times and enjoyed immense importance in the trade and maritime History of Kerala. Above all Beypore was world famous for its ship-building industry and lured the Arabs with the specially built vessels named uru. The traditional shipbuilders were known as Khalasis, who are adept in ship building knowledge and craft.
